[PDF] Rev. Scupoli – Spiritual Combat [London 1882]

There are four principal and most dangerous assaults, which our enemies are wont to make against us at the time of death.
They are: 1. temptation of faith, 2. despair, 3.vain glory and 4. various illusions and transformations of devils into angels of light.
As to the first assault: if the enemy begin to tempt you with his false arguments, retire at once from the understanding to the will, saying :
Get thee behind me, Satan, father of lies, for I will not even hear thee; enough for me to believe what the Holy Catholic Church believes.

[PDF] Card. Manning – The glories of the Sacred Heart [Londyn ca. 1895]

It is my purpose to speak upon four points. The first will be what I have just said : the fitness of the Incarnation ; that is to say, that it is most consistent with the wisdom and the glory of God that His Son should become incarnate. Secondly, I purpose to show that what is called dogma is at the same time devotion ; and that they who imagine that dogma is indevotional or hinders devotion simply show that they do not comprehend what dogma is, and, I may say, what is truth itself. Thirdly, we shall have to speak of the five ways of knowing the Sacred Heart. And lastly, we shall speak of the presence of Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar, and of the character of His Sacred Heart therein to us.

From the explanation given we must conclude that Mary, by her cooporation in Christ’s redeeming sacrifice, shared in obtaining, through the same sacrifice, all the graces of salvation for mankind as a whole.

[PDF] St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort – A Treatise On The True Devotion To The BLESSED VIRGIN [Londyn 1863]

All our perfection consists in being con-formed, united, and consecrated to Jesus Christ ; and therefore the most perfect of all devotions is, without any doubt, that which the most perfectly conforms, unites, and consecrates us to Jesus Christ. Now, Mary being the most conformed of all creatures to Jesus Christ, it follows that, of all devotions, that which most consecrates and conforms the soul to our Lord is devotion to His holy Mother, and that the more a soul is consecrated to Mary, the more is it consecrated to Jesus. Hence it comes to pass, that the most perfect consecration to Jesus Christ is nothing else but a perfect and entire consecration of ourselves to the Blessed Virgin, and this is the devotion which I teach; or in other words, a perfect renewal of the vows and promises of holy Baptism.

[PDF] St.  Alphonsus Marie de Liguori – Preparation for death [Boston 1854]

Time is a treasure which is found only in this life; it is not found in the next, either in hell or in heaven. In hell the damned exclaim with tears, O that an hour was given to us! They would pay any price for an hour of time, in which they might repair their ruin ; but this hour they shall never have. In heaven there is no wailing; but, were the saints capable of weeping, all their tears should arise from the thought of having lost the time in which they could have acquired greater glory, and from the conviction that this time shall never again be given to them. A deceased Benedictine nun appeared in glgry to a certain person, and said that she was perfectly happy ; but that, if she could desire any thing, it would be to return to life, and to
suffer pains and privations in order to merit an increase of glory. She added that, for the glory which corresponds to a single Ave Maria, she would be content to endure till the day of judgment the painful illness which caused her death.

[PDF] Rev. SALVANY – WHAT is LIBERALISM [St. Louis 1899]

[PDF] Rev. Salvany – What is Liberalism [St. Louis 1899]

Liberalism is a heresy in the doctrinal order, because heresy is the formal and obstinate denial of all Christian dogmas in general. It repudiates dogma altogether  and substitutes opinion, whether that opinion be doctrinal or the negation of doctrine.
Consequently it denies every doctrine in particular. If we were to examine in detail all the doctrines or dogmas which, within the range of Liberalism, have been denied, we would find every Christian dogma in one  way or the other rejected, from the dogma of the Incarnation to that of Infallibility.

Taking for granted that the Church is a complete and autonomous society (societas perfecta), she must evidently possess legislative power, i. e. the faculty of enacting laws. For a law is nothing else than an ordinance of reason for the common good, made by him who has care of the community, and promulgated (S. Theol., I-II, q. 90. a. 4.).
